Safeguarding
CHIS Safeguarding Policy Statement:
Protecting and promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our community. All play a vital role in child protection and safeguarding. CHIS takes a whole-school approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of children. We are committed to a child-centred approach, prioritising the needs and feelings of the child in any safeguarding situation. This means that we always consider what is in the best interest of the child in all actions and decisions.

Staff Training:

All new staff at CHIS do initial safeguarding training courses with TES Develop. Further internal PD also takes place for all staff during each academic year.

Safeguarding Leads:

Our safeguarding leads are a team of highly trained and experienced senior leaders who respond to any safeguarding concerns raised. There are two Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and three Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) in the school. All staff are given training how to raise a concern and make a report appropriately and all students are informed about how to raise a concern and who to talk to.  Further information on our systems and response procedures is provided in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy below.

Safeguarding Policies:

If you have a safeguarding concern:

For parents:

If you have any safeguarding concerns or would like to raise any questions, your first contact should be your child’s Tutor or Head of Year. If you still have questions or issues to discuss, you are also welcome to contact our school’s Safeguarding Leads by email: Ms Tammy Cyngier (Primary) t.cyngier@chis.edu.myMr James Hadley (Secondary) j.hadley@chis.edu.my

For students:

For any safeguarding concerns or questions, we recommend a child‘s first contact should be their Tutor or Head of Year. We teach our students:

•  They can also speak to any trusted adult in school. The adult will refer to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead if there is a concern about the safety of the child.

•  In most instances the parent / guardian will be informed unless it is deemed the child may be brought to harm or more risk by doing so.

Students are taught about safeguarding issues, including how to respond to concerns, during our Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE) lessons.

We'd Love To Hear From You
