IPC Accredited International Primary School – Primary Curriculum (Year 1-6)

CHIS is the premier primary international school in Johor Bahru, offering the prestigious International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for students aged 5-11.

As the only IPC-accredited primary international school in JB and one of just 4 schools in Malaysia, we provide world-class primary international education that prepares students for global success.

CHIS has been recognised by the International Curriculum Association (ICA) as an IPC Accredited School from 2024-2028. We are a part of a unique community of less than 50 schools worldwide that are accredited for their implementation of the international curriculum.

International Primary Curriculum (Year 1-6)

As students begin primary school at CHIS, we strive to encourage holistic development.

We have implemented the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) which is currently used by over 1,000 schools in over 92 countries worldwide. The curriculum takes on a comprehensive and thematic approach with a clear and rigorous process of learning, providing students with subject goals, personal learning goals, and international learning goals. These goals navigate children towards a practical global and intercultural perspective. Students will grasp big themes that will help them develop subject knowledge as well as a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Learning Approach:

Subjects are taught through engaging themes that make learning relevant and enjoyable. The IPC approach develops:

  • Global perspective through international mindedness.
  • Academic excellence across all subject areas.
  • Personal development and character building.
  • 21st-century skills for future success.

FAQs on CHIS Primary Curriculum

CHIS follows the British Curriculum supplemented with International Primary Curriculum (IPC), an internationally recognised, inquiry-based curriculum designed to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding through thematic units.

The IPC fosters academic skills, creativity, social responsibility, and global awareness through a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum.

Core subjects include Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art, and Physical Education, integrated into thematic learning units.

Student progress is monitored through formative and summative assessments aligned with IPC learning goals to track academic and personal development.
